5 key steps to ensure good teeth

If you want to keep good teeth throughout your entire life, to eat, smile and not to suffer, we must do it early. The Health Insurance offers preventive dental consultations at the age of 6 years, and then regularly until adulthood!

Oral prevention: the 5 key ages

The purpose of the prevention program of the oral dentists is to develop good oral hygiene early and treat as soon as possible any dental problems.

The program initially dentists addressed to young people aged from 13 to 18 years. Since 2007, five ages are targeted, corresponding to "peak risk" for oral health: 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18.

Supports 100% of preventive dental consultations

Specifically, dentists move in schools to encourage children to achieve their oral examination prevention. Then it is the parents who receive by mail an invitation to visit a dentist to perform the review, supported 100% by the health insurance without advance payment.

If care be necessary, they are supported at the usual rate. Are concerned, the treatment of caries, root scaling, radios, extractions. Are not here concerned orthodontics (tooth position) or dentures.

Preventive Dentistry: at each age its risks and brakes

The concern is then regularity. Therefore the national dentists then apply regular 9, 12, 15 and 18. Especially since the risks to oral health continue to increase with advancing age.

A 9-year-old mixed dentition (loss of baby teeth and permanent teeth erupt, misaligned teeth, loose teeth, which grow ...) makes it difficult to brush and promotes tooth decay.

Then, at age 12, the permanent teeth are in placing but still fragile and the onset of adolescence is often accompanied by the consumption of sugary foods and drinks.

The following age groups, 15 and 18 are the most difficult to mobilize. It seems that adolescents are less sensitive to oral hygiene and more autonomous in relation to requests and guidance from their parents. However, it should remind them that brushing is required two times a day should be avoided degrignoter too often and consume sweets and soft drinks.

And finally, it should inform them of the harmful effects of tobacco on oral health: smoking directly attacks the gums...
