The blood vessels in the transport of blood from the heart to all organs and tissues of the body. Rectum, anus and anal opening contain many blood vessels.
Sometimes an increase in blood pressure in the rectal area causes dilation of blood vessels in the anus, this increase in blood pressure may be due to constipation, diarrhea, pregnancy or aging. When blood vessels are dilated, they form varicose veins called hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids are a very common disease. The most common cause of hemorrhoids is deploying major efforts to expel the stool. Hemorrhoids are either internal in which case they occur inside the anus or external in which case they are just under the skin at the anal opening.
